A Case Study of Wet Gangrene
Report from Hottentots Holland Hospital
To whom it may concern,
This is to confirm that I treated the patient (presented here, in the photographs)
following treatment at Paarl Hospital where an amputation was considered of her
right foot.
On initial examination, her foot was extremely septic and we proceeded with
appropriate treatment. The dorsum of the foot was clean, but she had a deep
infection of the planter area of her foot. A large amount of neurotic tissue was exited.
Following a few days of Chemspunge® dressings, it was felt that the foot was clean
enough for a skin graft.
A skin graft was performed on the dorsum of the foot and she was discharged a few
days later with the foot vitally healed.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Vermeulen
