Consider this:
  • Large numbers of patients are admitted to health care institutions on a daily basis.
  • Every person admitted suffers a different illness or disease.
  • Hundreds of visitors visit these patients.
  • However,  very few people think that a Hospital is not a bacteria free environment.
  • Patients are admitted to load off bacteria attacking their bodies.
  • Healthy visitors coming into contact with bacteria might contract a disease.
  • A fact which should not be overlooked,  is that nursing staff training standards,  due to lack of funds for proper training, have dropped drastically in the past few years.
  • Due to limited nursing personal and reduced budgets the use of DISPOSABLE® LINENS AND THEATRE PACKS for Hospital becomes an advisable option.
  • The reluctance of the present hospital staff to handle human discharges and blood cannot be overlooked.
  • DISPOSABLE® LINENS AND THEATRE PACKS was invented to prevent contact with discharges and at the same time eliminates contamination of Hospital equipment.
  • Labour rooms and Theatre beds need to be protected against acetic discharges and blood.
  • DISPOSABLE® BED LINEN prevents contact between the patient and the pillows, blankets and the mattresses.
  • It has been proved that pillows,  mattresses and blankets very seldom are sterilised or come in contact with the sun.
  • A large number of bacteria cannot be destroyed by oxygen alone.
  • The "CLOSTRIDIA-PERFERGISM BACTERIODES" is often found in pillows,  blankets,  thermometers and blood pressure apparatus.
  • Bed lockers where clothes and food are stored,  are without doubt very unhygienic.
In most Hospitals:
Soiled linen are soaked and kept in bins or bags for 2 to 3 days before taken the laundry.
Mattresses,  pillows and blankets are stained with blood and mucus and urine discharges.
When soiled linens are transported to the laundry,  clean linen are transported back to the hospital in the same truck, very seldom is the truck cleaned.
It has been witnessed that clean linen is stored in broken or damaged bags.
The truck drops the bags at a certain point and the staff drags the bags or transports them to the laundry room with a trolley.
Linen rooms are not cleaned regularly.
After discharging a patient,  it was found that the bed and mattress are very seldom cleaned properly and the pillows and blankets are taken to the linen room before sunlight or sterilizing is preformed.
Nurses not washing their hands properly handle clean linens.
On admission,  the patient does not bath before he/she is admitted to the assigned bed thereby infecting the bed with whatever infection the patient may be suffering from.
The moment the patient's body heat warms up bacteria starts multiplying,  which cannot be destroyed by oxygen alone.

BECAUSE of the above mentioned SITUATIONS,  it is advisable to use
DISPOSABLE® LINENS TO PREVENT CROSS-INFECTION!

Cost calculations.
A thorough study was conducted in all fields.
  •  The calculation of costs to a hospital to supply "un-sterile" linen to one patient.
  •  Administrative personnel to control hospital linen.
  •  Purchasing of new linens.
  •  Salaries and wages.
  •  Transport.
  •  Fuel.
  •  Electricity and water.
  •  Maintenance on trucks, plant and machinery.
  •  Full time engineers to maintain atomisation on machinery.
  •  Theft and deterioration of linens.
  •  It was found that one sheet could be washed 25 times only.
Proper calculations have proved the cost to supply one bed's linen to one patient per day at approximately +- R450.00 per day.
By using disposable® linens a cost is R58.60 per day can be achieved and it must be taken into account that disposable linen can remain up to seven days before disposed.
This does not only guarantee a carefree stay in the hospital but will prevent the high cost of re-hospitalizations of patients.
